Video Premiere: Quiet Signals – Lost in Dreams (Summertime Version)

We are pleased to premiere the new video for Quiet Signals’ gorgeous instrumental track “Lost in Dreams.” The video is a simple live performance from the duo’s performance at Vagabond Studios in February.

Whereas the studio version, recorded remotely during lockdown, made generous use of overdubs and reverb effects to expand the atmosphere, this performance strips their sonic palette down to just Nick Kizirnis” acoustic guitar and Kate Wakefield’s cello. While most post rock outfits would suffer from such nakedness, the simplicity of the arrangement allows for the composition to bloom into its own narrative without relying on production.

The more simplified arrangement is surprisingly effective, bringing out nuances of the track that might have been cluttered beneath studio treatments. It wasn’t simply a matter of necessity either: says Kizirnis, “We worked with droning notes and different effects to replicate the layered tracks on the album, but the simpler we made it, the better it sounded, and it was much more fun to play.

“Lost in Dreams (Summertime Version)” is streaming now on Bandcamp.
