These 4 songs by punk band Twin Mill embrace grungy notes, while the band seem to be racing for a better life. The themes touch on hopelessness and broken desire, low moments, and triggering regret, pushing the band to the edge of a breakdown. Though the EP describes depressive notions, the instrumentals are crushing, technical, and intense.
Grunge supposedly died in the 90s, but this band is bringing it back with purpose, and those punk elements interweave cohesively. Throughout the EP, the brooding vocals and the blistering pace come at full pelt, showcasing the band’s hunger to overthrow the norm.
Punk is a weird one, and it’s debatable if still relevant. Of course, it is, and this EP Different Skies shows punk in a brand-new light, though there are more than 3 chords here. The technical ability the band muster is admirable, and the way they take on their demons should be commended.
Blanket starts off the EP. It’s a stylish stab at melancholia, while the instrumentals form a true sound. The lyrics point to loss and the last hope, and the band is trying to piece together some sort of resolution.
Drown enforces the grunge sound, and the melodies have been interwoven well. Again, the band slip into a bubble of despair, looking to create a new path to paradise. Phantom is a straight-up punk song showing brilliant hooks. The artistry and togetherness are impressive, while the band shout for a revolution.
Twin Mill take their sound up a notch, delivering an EP which shows true commitment but also despair.
