TREY – “Shove” [Exclusive Premiere]

Coming off two EPs released last year, TREY enters into a new chapter with even more rock flavor than what we’ve seen to date. The group’s live performances manage to capture the full dynamic of their sound, but blossom largely showed a studio emphasis on songwriting, playing with production and synths. Rest assured, the forthcoming EP Everything is Strange, but I’ll Be Fine will show listeners the side of TREY that fans have seen in-person.

“Shove” is a polished rock track with a couple production flourishes mixed in. The guitar parts are reminiscent of Green Day’s “Brain Stew”, but the similarities end there – TREY continue to wrestle with identity, loss, and the redemption arcs of life through a soundscape of pensive instrumentation. A quick highlight from the track is the bridge, whose lyrics are from a background layer of “i forgot that people stayed until i met you.”

The continuity doesn’t stop there – all three EPs are part of larger album which will weave together the lyrical nuances and reconcile the variety of sounds. For now, check out “Shove” below and let us know what you think! You can follow TREY for more news on Facebook and Instagram.
