Switchfoot goes Blues with Buddy Guy

By Ryan G

Think Switchfoot has run out of tricks up their sleeves? Think again.

The CCM crossover rockers might be best known for hits such as “Meant to Live,” “Dare You to Move” and “Stars” but they have a surprise for both fans old and new.

Are they prepared to show their chops against Jack White and The Black Keys? It certainly seems like it. Of course, it certainly helps when you have one of the all time greats, Buddy Guy, in your corner.

The track is noteworthy because you hear Jon Foreman’s voice in a different context. He shows remarkable adaptability, but in this song the vocals aren’t the star, the guitar is. As it should be. You have to let Buddy Guy be Buddy Guy. This song is the real deal, and not just the music equivalent of clickbait.

This punchy track will help you either beat the winter doldrums or be your soundtrack to your Spring Break travels. Both are acceptable. I’m sitting here at my house still a little bitter that my recent travel to a warmer climate has come to an end, but this song “Last Man Standing” is a nice bit of consolation.
