Premiere: Current Events – “Cupboard”

Fresh off of an impressive appearance at Bunbury Music Festival, Cincinnati natives Current Events have released the emotional new video for “Cupboard,” a track encompassing the aftermath of a long relationship’s demise.

Listeners of Taking Back Sunday, Thrice, and Brand New will find a home in Current Events’ stunning new track, with intricately-woven guitars and a building feel to a chilling climax. Thanks to Daniel Chimusoro and Cory Woodruff of Scout Media Co., the videography is just as impressive. The video itself features imagery suggesting walking through a past life and reexamining the relationship that once existed there. Glitches and cuts, reversed images, and the overall visual feel adds to the feeling of melancholy and remembrance, and creates a unity between song and video that is very impressive.

“So much of yourself is defined by that commitment that was in your life, that when it’s done you are just trying to find yourself and learn how to live and function without it,” the band said of its heart-wrenching new track. Not dissimilar to the subject matter of the track, Current Events has found itself, too.

“We thought we had our sound nailed down as a band, and then it hit us – like, ‘Whoa, so this is who we really are as a band,’” the guys say. Like trying to pick up the pieces and move on after a long relationship, there should be no looking back – and for Current Events, there is no looking back either.
