More recs for your Fall Playlist [Single Reviews]

Lone Wild – “Kingdom Come”

Better late than never – I had to lead off this latest batch of single reviews with Lone Wild’s “Kingdom Come,” a pensive midtempo barnburner with several nuggets of reflection lyrically and a steady groove to carry all of it. The song has a neat climax and it brings to mind album closers from Paper Route and MUTEMATH I’ve heard in years past. The guy behind Lone Wild is also a kindred spirit and I believe this shows in his work as well.

Sansol the Artist – “Pocket Size”

Take some Posty and MUTEMATH influence and what do you get? Something that sounds like this! In all seriousness, this might be the most fun I’ve had listening to a Sansol track thus far. He’s proven his expertise in emotion and the suave factor, now its time to just let loose.

AEIR – “Tug of War”

This Ohio act is rock and roll in its purest form. The band clearly takes a lot of inspiration from the greats and you can see that visually with Lucas’ mic – a sibling to Steven Tyler’s stage prop, as it were. “Tug of War” is a feel-good fist pumping anthem fit for that midway part of a show when you need to keep the energy up.

Hallie – “Amen”

At the beginning of this year we called your attention to this cinematic dark pop artist in our Ohio Artists to Watch list. Taking inspiration from the likes of PVRIS and Imagine Dragons, with vocals similar to Ariel from Icon For Hire, Hallie has crafted a mysterious anthem sure to a crowd pleaser.

Glass Age – “separateness”

The angsty indie act from Wichita has dropped a single from their forthcoming LP, fresh off appearances at the Kansas version of the Hawthorne Heights curated “Is For Lovers Fest” and our own Steadfast Festival. What’s noteworthy about this song to me is the assertive, bordering on aggressive crunchy production.

Basic Printer – “BORED, & WORSE… FINE WITH IT!”

Have you ever tried to define “gloitch pop”? It might be better for us if you just listened to this track and came to your own conclusion rather than us try to bridge that gap. This quirky Nashville artist’s whole vibe can be summed up fairly well in the artwork below, which appears to be a rendering of the artist himself. You never know quite what you’re gonna get when listening to Basic Printer, but each product ends up being an earworm, and his latest is no exception to the rule.

Listen to all of the above songs and more on our playlist!
