Fuelled on adrenaline and sheer angst, this EP propels Headstrong through the haze and the dust, and the band doesn’t adhere to the normal foundations of pop punk, as they drill in their own unique style. Space To Heal has great structure too, and there’s a story etched into the music, with these musicians telling us that they’re feeling the pain riffling through their bodies, and the pressure attacking their minds.
The lyrics here demand attention, and the band wants first and foremost to be noticed for their work and presence. Every word has weight and meaning, and the act is angry, totally enraged, focused on giving their all as they keep themselves from subsiding into the void.
Headstrong impact their music with sturdy instrumentals and style, making them such a force to be reckoned with, even if they’re still under the radar. This EP will hopefully give them the push to break that over-skin, that barricade, to the bright lights, though does it really matter? As what they’re doing right now seems more courageous.
Who You Used To Be starts the record with volatility. The band doesn’t ease into this; they play hard and showcase their prime lyricism, telling us that a relationship crippled the buzz.
Composed begins as a pop punk song should, enabling sheer anger. The act describes another day spent reeling from a breakup. Those guitar riffs promote great structure too. Collapse begins slowly, and the vocals are subtle, conveying emotion and the frightful places where a hundred disgruntled faces reside. Decay also covers everything here, growing at an almighty pace.
Headstrong is a band telling stories that aren’t pretty but relevant, while leaving a narrative burst which leaves a lasting effect.
