Disconnected – We Are Disconnected

Metal band Disconnected use melodies and crushing instrumentals to get their point across. The act takes influence from bands such as Avenged Sevenfold, and that nod to the megastars is clear. Their record We Are Disconnected sounds fresh and bold, slightly audacious, but it works. The instrumentals are massive, and the sonic power they have implemented into their work is equally colossal. Screams and growls deliver impact, and they enhance the listening experience, pushing the band to the limits of their credentials.

The band clearly know how to create a curdling atmosphere within their music, with optimism vaguely making its way in without getting fully pulverised. Positivity doesn’t need to be infused here, as the band wants to tell their stories as raw as possible. The stories point to the roughness of life, the details are vivid, and perfection dies before it can make its way through to the vicinity of safety.

You can’t dismiss Disconnected. Their music is too open and too infectious, clearly worked upon and painstakingly designed. Everything falls into place, and the music desires a parade of listeners to fall into its pool, its aura. It isn’t for everyone, this sound, but for the musically minded and the people who love riffs and solos. Then it’s there to be applauded.

Life Will Always Find Its Way starts the record off in loud fashion. The lyrics are pinned to the walls and the screams enthral. The chorus revels in its intensity. The Only Truth is another technical piece that will draw the listener in, and the vocals are clean here with a dash of intensified singing. It works. That’s How I’ll Face The End yet again hits all the right notes, with a brooding but glorious chorus. It actually purifies the soul.

Disconnected re-energises metal here. Their music doesn’t stick to a beaten down formula, but a fresh new take.
