dear seattle – toy

Dear Seattle do not collapse under the strain of the world, but try to embrace what is in front of them. The band, do not teeter on the line either, as they do give us an insight into their workings through a pragmatic approach. Lyrically they enforce emotional words into the core of significance, putting them together to create a template of meaning.

The words are not solely there to be admired, they are there to catch the listener, to give them a chance to design their own expressive output. These poetic charges are great too and the band has worked extensively on their art before the foundations pop up.

By gravitating towards the rock sound, Dear Seattle do not mimic any other band here, and that shows immense creativity and a true understanding. TOY is also their album of astuteness, an intelligent disc, a cross over into perfect dimensions.

Love crashes in at moments too, pulled to the limits, but it is there to be assessed, analysed by the common and intelligent eye. And the band, dutifully know they have entered the race with TOY, a marathon through emotions.

Promise is a great song. A song which thrusts the listener into a fight with their own emotions. Through it all, there is some calmness, some strategy, and even tragedy. The guitars are in full swing and the riff grows and grows until the track almost bursts.

Evergreen has a burgeoning riff which doesn’t lose momentum. Melancholy arrests the heart here, and the emotions reach an almighty level. From the start there is real connection between the arrangements.

We Were So Close opens slowly and surely does give the feels. A ballad of sorts, it showcases love in a new suit. Properly melancholic, it shows the instrumentals off beautifully while the lyrics tell us a story.

Dear Seattle tries to level off their emotions with TOY, which is a collection offering songs of sincerity and balance.
