Coming up quick is a new festival in Columbus, Ohio called Cloud City. Following the development of this festival has opened my eyes to whole new side of the Columbus music scene that I was not aware of previously.
One exception to that rule is Fortune Orange. Cloud City’s booking this band was a very savvy move; they have a high draw wherever they play. Yet they seem to fall perpetually under the radar of the larger powers that be in this city. We don’t exclude ourselves from culpability there, but I will say that in putting together this article I did grow to appreciate the band’s funk-hop sound even more. Their single “All That Time” has an easygoing vibe that ought to fit on playlists with most jam and blues bands, yet there’s a playfulness to the track that turns up the intrigue factor.
A quick listen to “Serendipity” indicates to me Fortune Orange indeed would be a good band to have at a festival. I’m intrigued to put this hypothesis to the test on Saturday, September 7th. Find all the info you need for Cloud City here and peep the Cloud City Q&A we sent Fortune Orange below:
