Audiofeed 2016 preview: Kept On Hold

By Ryan G

The face of Kept On Hold, Andrew Alojipan, may be one of the most genuine people you’ll ever meet. “A sunny disposition” as my mother might say. This happy dude isn’t afraid of his feelings though, and he channels that through a chill pop punk project that will be appearing at Audiofeed. Well, it isn’t alway that chill, but you know what I mean… I hope.

I truly experienced Kept On Hold in a dark living room for the first time in early April. The silhouette of Andrew belting out his emotive jams had everyone’s rapt attention. The scene is ripe for someone with a more acoustic leaning to rise in the pop punk scene, and it could be Kept On Hold. I should mention that although I keep throwing around the word “acoustic” Andrew will be performing with a full band at this year’s Audiofeed. Get to know him a little bit more below:

Who would play your ideal festival and where would it be?

My ideal festival would have, but not be limited to some of my best friends’ bands, Vagabonds, Chris Bernstorf, Kevin Schlereth, and Kyle Colby. It would be in Colorado.

What is your favorite music released this year thus far? What are you looking forward to?

My favorite from this year would have to be Thrice  “To Be Everywhere Is To Be Nowhere.” And I’m super stoked for the upcoming Andrew Warner release, “Temporary Circumstances EP.”

What summer movie are you most looking forward to?

Finding Dory. Hands down.

Assume I know NOTHING about your band. In one sentence, why should I listen to you?

You should listen to my band because high school wasn’t all that bad.

Who on the Audiofeed lineup are you most stoked about this year and why?

Emery and Wolves at the Gate, because deep down, I’ll forever be a post hard-core kid.

If your band had a mission statement, what would it say?

Kept On Hold is a vehicle to tell my story of brokenness/healing, in order to remind people of their true worth to God. That His love goes beyond our missteps. And His love redeems all things.

What band from your area do more people need to hear? That most Audiofeed attendees (and beyond) would not have heard of.

Honestly, Andrew Warner. Can’t wait for that née album.

What song do you hear and you immediate think “Summer!”?

“Tennis Court Soundtrack” by Daphne Loves Derby.

What is something you’ve been learning on your life or faith journey lately?

I’ve been learning more and more about who I am to God. Beyond anything else that I am or can be, I will first and foremost forever be His kid.
