“Simpsons fandom and marketing strategy aside, it’s okay for a demo.”
– Nathaniel M Grosh
“I actually listened to them earlier and the quality of the recordings were not exactly the greatest… As an artist myself that does cosplay and other things I like it but I don’t know if I really feel it and it seems overly gimmicky… In a bad way… I didn’t hear anything specifically that made it very Flanders like… All in all I support what they are doing but I’m not really a fan”
– Pete Mako
I’m listening to the bandcamp of Okilly Dokilly, a Ned Flanders themed band described as ‘Nedal’. Ned Flanders is the neighbor of the Simpson family in the animated television series ‘The Simpsons.’
There’s a few remarkable things going on here, one of these being that they are currently going viral.
There’s only 4 demos on the Bandcamp, listing the band as from Phoenix AZ.
If you click the info tab on the tracks, you’ll even be given the season and episode the lyrics came from.
The music tends to start soft and then breaks down into some heavier screamier parts, and thats generally where the vocals kick in (the lyrics lifted from dialogue of actual Simpsons episodes).
The album is online listed at ‘name your price’.
Did I mention they are currently going viral? The last time I refreshed my browser, they were listed at 8,933 likes. (Edit: At the time of posting, they are now over 10,000 likes).
If you live in Phoenix AZ, you can catch Okilly Dokilly’s debut show Saturday September 5th at The Trunk Space (1508 NW Grand Ave).
