Ravi Shavis put out a self titled disc ‘Ravi Shavi’.
Ravi Shavi is a cool name, and likely an ode to the Pakistani origin of Ravi Shavi’s lead singer. This is a text-book garage rock record, following in the tradition of the 2000’s garage rock wave, drawing on earlier influences stemming back to the 80’s, 60’s, and 50’s.
The group takes the ‘cool name’ element and runs with it throughout the record. It basically sounds like a bunch of cool dudes playing rock and roll. This isn’t going to change your life, unless you need an infusion of purely cool (which admittedly is cool from time to time). Its not going to solve any problems, not going to achieve world peace, but if having a good time is what you’re after, Ravi Shavi delivers.
