Here at Tuned Up we are friends with a good number of local artists. One of those is Keyoung. I was probably one of the last to get into his music and friend him. Once I did I not only became a fan of his music but I have made a really good friend. So it was a pleasure to have him as one of the musicians we decided to interview. If you are headed to Audiofeed and happen to see him around take a second to actually speak with him. I can promise you it will be a really good conversation. As you can tell from his music, he is wise beyond his years.
Tuned Up: What’s your favorite fair/festival food? What fair food would pair best with your sound?
Keyoung: Elephant ears without a doubt and I think a strawberry lemonade freeze fits me.
Tuned Up: Is the band trying to send a message to the world? If so, what?
Keyoung: Everyone is deserving of dignity and grace is greater than hatred.
Tuned Up: What summer blockbuster has you most stoked? This can include movies that are already out.
Keyoung: The new Mad Max film. It’s an absolutely riveting film that I want to see again.
Tuned Up: What’s the one band from your area everyone needs to know about and why?
Keyoung: Narrow/Arrow from Mansfield is an incredible band. If you like math rock or a guy playing two guitars and singing at the same time then they will be your jam. Keep an eye on them because they’re about to do some cool things.
Tuned Up: Who are you most excited to see on the Audiofeed lineup and why?
Keyoung: There’s so many I could say. New Heart and analecta would have to be some of my top because they’re both good friends of mine.
Tuned Up: Summer festivals seem to be the in thing now, if you had your own, what would it be called? And who would you get to play it?
Keyoung: I would call it Get Wild! Wizard Fest and I would get Kendrick Lamar, Modern Life Is War, mewithoutYou, Janelle Monae, The National, Advent, Converge and Run the Jewels
Tuned Up: This festival is held over 4th of July weekend. What is your favorite 4th of July tradition?
Keyoung: Watching my friends not understand how to use fireworks properly and then all of us diving in the dirt so the explosives didn’t hit us.
Tuned Up: Sweet Tea or Lemonade
Keyoung: LEMONADE
Tuned up: Describe your band in 3 words.
Keyoung: Here’s two, Fight Music
Tuned Up: If you have played this festival before what is your favorite thing about it? If not what are you looking forward to?
Keyoung: The community is the best thing about it. Also I’m excited for secret band sets.
