Review by Jamarr Stokes
At Tink’s Rock House in Marion, its normally a rocking house all the time, but on March 30th, it was a celebratory, yet somber mood as it was a benefit show for a young woman who was killed in a car accident. However, her spirit was there in full strength as 4 bands tore it up for her and everyone else.
The first band to put on a show was Lost 4 Now, a Marion mainstay in the hardcore scene. After talking with the band for a little while, I learned that their lineup was in a bit of disarray. So, a few of the people playing weren’t permanent members, but honestly I didn’t feel it mattered, because these guys sounded great. Their set was a little random, they laughingly called it “our first practice”, but it all worked out as it was good stuff.
Second to go on was For Valor and Vengeance from Lancaster. These guys were really good, the vocals were really crisp, the instrumentals were together, and the drums were great. They’re about to release an album next week, so be on the look out for that!
Third to go on was Witness from Dayton. Every time these guys play, they get better and better, sooner or later they’re gonna get their big break. They are recording their cover of Alex Clare’s “Too Close” this week, so look forward to that. Other than that, these guys had a great set.
Last to go on was Seven Minutes Left from Marion. They played a 15-song set. They really weren’t my taste, although there were good things to hear in places. I’ll leave it at they weren’t for me, but maybe others liked them. Either way, props for headlining.
