If you’re here, chances are Josh Krajcik has crossed your radar whether you realize it or not. Most notably, he finished second in X factor. In the years since, he’s hit the road and has been a favorite of several notable booking circles in Columbus, OH.

It might be surprising that an artist known for sharing stages with the likes of Corinne Bailey Rae, Brandi Carlile, and The Fray is taking a hard pivot into a more retrofuturistic sound in the same universe as M83. Electronic hooks aren’t something that’s unfamiliar to Krajcik though – in 2017, he participated in a cowrite with the late AVCII.

A near death experience in 2019 pivoted Krajcik toward childhood nostalgia. This is something I find relatable – from an early age I’ve always been drawn towards the immersive, dreamy and vibe-y; the COVID-19 pandemic accelerated this proclivity to the forefront of my music tastes, seemingly for good. So, Yours Truly is stoked to hear this upcoming record by Krajcik.

“I Don’t Fear It” is the second single from EPIPHANIAC, out later this summer on August 30th. Says the singer of this song: “I’ve always felt it’s a driving song. I wrote it in my truck on parking garage rooftops when it was too late to work. It feels like running to me. Towards or away from something. Both.”

The record came to life in a combination of both Krajcik’s own home and Oranjudio (run by Joey Gurwin), a recording studio with an increasing impressive resume. The album was engineered and mixed by Gurwin, and mastered by Brian Lucey of Magic Garden Mastering.

I’ll take new driving songs any day! Stream the single below and let us know your thoughts.
