Premiere: Doom Folk Collective Insomniac Folklore Returns

By Ryan G

Over the years, Insomniac Folklore have become a staple band in my personal Tuned Up listening universe. They are outside my normal realm of listening, but there’s something wholesome, compelling, and a little unsettling about this project based in the middle of nowhere in the Pacific Northwest.

The band releases their first new material in almost 7 years today. Stream the new single “Hands, Lips and Eyes” below and tell us what you think. It’s a slow-burner – contemplative and eerie. It seems to be written with the expectation of the listener to really spend time digging into what songwriter Rev. Tyler Hentchsel is saying.

The Hands, Lips and Eyes EP releases on June 15th.The lead single is available for free download on Bandcamp now.

Performance dates can be found below or on their Bandcamp:

June 15 – Urban Blendz – Roseburg, OR

June 24 – Audra’s Copper Coo – Thermopolis, WY

June 26 – Diamond E Collective – Rapid City, SD

June 28 – Red Rooster Coffee House – Aberdeen, SD

July 6 – Audiofeed Festival – Urbana, IL
