Loose Lips – Melancholia

Loose Lips deter from being normal and safe. The band has organised these tracks of sheer angst and ferocity, which in truth bolster their appeal as a collective searching for bliss when melancholy is on the rampage.  The songs are not for people looking for serenity either, nor are they for the peacekeepers. They’re there as notions for the outsiders to fall into when everything seems too painful.

The album has been named Melancholia, and you know what, it sticks to that moniker well. The emotions run riot here, and the act tries to calm the storm while bearing the pain they feel grinding at their bones. From the beginning of this record, every lyric and guitar riff becomes significant, and they’re there as segments of style.

The band offers highly pitched sounds, but not everything seems right, as the melancholic vibe does flutter through. That’s not to say the album ponders too much in depressing places, it just has that emotional twist.

11 songs make up Melancholia. How Much More displays a riff for the ages, and the track holds up against the best on the record. Staggering melodies also impose, and they’re justified. The band is in their element here, and lyrically, love features with venomous intentions. Keep Me Sane begins with subtlety, and then the dirty riff blends in and shows its brashness. The vocals are brilliant here, and the percussion is on top form, and those lyrics spell out struggle.

Comfort In Chaos opens with a breakneck riff that carries on through the wars. The music isn’t stagnant, as it runs smoothly, and the riff doesn’t wither into nothingness. It’s a standout track, dishing out the emotions.

Loose Lips desire strength, and their hearts are in it, even though the emotions run high.
