BRKN LOVE has embarked on shaping their own revolution. The sound that they exhibit is super-charged, ferocious in parts, and powerfully showcased. Black Box is their LP of substance, their album crossing the divide, and their collection fuelled on rage. Sometimes, the sound can turn from being a at steady level, until those guitar riffs bolster everything.
There’s enough melody here too to counteract the ferocity, and Black Box permeates the atmosphere with its straight in your face attitude. There isn’t much let-up here either, as the band goes straight for the loudness, and that makes for an entertaining listening experience. Not only does the band do things on a high level, the lyrics do deliver stories on love, and its dark-side.
Lyrically, the band has created urgent fables about ghosts, hardship, broken honesty. Their portrayals are fiery too, and the words are a pivotal part of the process for this act. It has so many parts, so many dramatic sections, and the band isn’t fully happy about the state of life and love while the walls are closing in.
Little Black Box starts the album. Fuzzy guitar work compliments the vocals. The lyrics describe broken people and their descent into the void. It’s a eye-opening track. Under The Knife opens with a vigorous riff and powerful percussion work. It’s loud and unapologetic, and it delivers lyrics written with anger. Bad Blood starts with massive instrumentals, and it then slows down for slender moments, until the crash comes in. Again, the lyrics convey a lack of light and opportunities.
BRKN LOVE startle here with their latest LP. It is eventful for all the right reasons.
