Featured Releases
Open Mike Eagle–a tape called component system with the auto reverse
Open Mike Eagle bridges the gap between underground and mainstream hip-hop. Musically the album fits the current underground style. But his rhyming is very accessible and more importantly, it is GOOD. The beats are hazy, jazzy, and head-nodding. There’s an unsettling edge to the production that makes you lean in rather than away. atcswtar has come great guest spots, including R.A.P. Fereirra and Aesop Rock. Open Mike Eagle is a great lyricist with consistent delivery, and he’s at the top of his game on a tape. Stream the new album HERE.

Abel–Music To Ground Yourself
On Music To Ground Yourself, Columbus band Abel have completely ditched the hyper-pop influences found on Happy Belated for shoegaze and slow-core elements. This is a lane that fits their abilities, from lead singer’s slightly-warbly baritone to tenor range, the quiet-loud-quiet sonic aesthetic, and lingering guitar solos that recall the tones of Midwest-emo legends American Football. The lyrics are deeply personal yet poetically relatable at the same time. On Music To Ground Yourself, Abel continues to impress and improve, proving they are a band worth investing time in. Richard Edwards–Ghost Electricity/Vampire Draw
Despite continuing significant medical difficulties, indie wunderkind Richard Edwards (of Margot and the Nuclear So and So’s) has released another album of chamber-pop gems. Ghost Electricity/Vampire Draw is a meditation on his recent medical treatments. Piano and string driven, this is the next natural step in his musical evolution which began with his pandemic re-recordings of popular Margot tunes. Featuring his signature emotional tenor and silky delivery, Edwards is a natural storyteller who knows how to stir the most intimate of emotions. This is the perfect album to set the mood for Autumn, a cathartic season centered on dying into Winter. Stream the new album HERE.

Dayglow–People in Motion
Sloan Struble, aka Dayglow, creates sincere, upbeat pop music. The newest album, People in Motion, is no exception. It’s fun, but not cloying. And just because the aim is positivity doesn’t mean it’s trivial. As a person who generally gravitates away from this kind of pop, I found myself really enjoying the mood created throughout the album. And as a bonus, the track “Then It All Goes Away” has cowbell. And truly, every song could use more cowbell. Stream the new album HERE.
