We are pleased to premiere “Their Wings of Golden Light,” the new single from Amsterdam post rock project Neko Nine off of their new album Isola.
“Their Wings of Golden Light” is a sparkling bit of post rock that harkens back to genre giants like Explosions in the Sky and Caspian with cinematic dynamics, lush layers of electric guitars, flourishes of strings, and a heart-swelling climax. As Neko Nine bandleader Seva Shaposhnikov puts it, the track “is a story about hope: you can have doubts, you can be beaten, but there’s always this golden light, holding you up, lighting the way even in the darkest times.”
Neko Nine began as a solo project in 2009, eventually transitioning into a five piece and releasing their debut album Summer Is You in 2012. After a lengthy hiatus, Shaposhnikov has resurrected the project, once again as its sole member, fleshing out demos from the days as a full band.
Isola is out July 22 through Friend Club Records and Lights and Sounds. You can pre-save the single now.
