Audiofeed is neat because it books a nice mix of up-and-coming acts and old standbys. The old standbys are often perennial acts: Comrades, Flatfoot 56, Leper. The bands that make Audiofeed what it is.
Audiofeed has found itself an unlikely new annual act in acidfuneral. This act is local to Champaign/Urbana, and has used the festival over the years to hone their craft and live show.
Per the request of the band, we aren’t going to reveal too much about their personality. Heck, I’m not even sure we’re qualified to be writing this article; I (Ryan) admittedly don’t exactly listen to black metal on a regular basis, although a nice dose of Deafheaven does my ears well once in a while.
As you might expect, the music is bleak and a little ethereal at times. The lo-fi quality of the recordings adds to the character and gives the dreamy soundscapes more of an impact. Listening to “リービング leaving” reminds me of Mount Eerie at times. Mount Eerie Sauna-era mixed with Author & Punisher. There’s some references for you to dig into!
acidfuneral hits at 1:30PM on the good old 4th of July. Dare to enter the darkness on our nation’s birthday at the Black Sheep Stage, and check out their music on bandcamp. Like the band on Facebook.
What is your favorite ice cream flavor?
P i s t a c h i o
If your music was a cocktail (or other liquid concoction), what would it be?
Oh, that one’s easy: blood and research chemicals.
What’s a memorable live show you’ve played?
At one point I played at a festival and hit myself in the arm with a machete so hard that I started arching blood for real lol
What music has really impacted you this year? Why?
Polyphia and a lot of vaporwave to be honest. I just want to drown in riffs and depressing electronic noises tbh.
Where is the oddest place you’ve been inspired to write music?
In dreams.
Being a black metal project with a more bleak worldview, how do you feel you fit in at Audiofeed? What do you appreciate most about playing there?
We love Audiofeed and all the people that keep making this festival happen. Being locals, Audiofeed just existing as a thing that happens in CU is amazing.
What is the most exciting thing happening in your world right now?
Audiofeed, baby

Get to the Black Sheep Stage early on July 4th and get a taste of the local psychedelic black metal scene!
