It’s “been a while since [he’s] posted,” but after two years away from the game, Mickey Young is finally back with some dope shit. The Indiana-based rapper makes his return to music with a smooth flow over a head-bobbing trap beat. His autobiographical bars and clever wordplay are the track’s centerpiece, but it’s the often chilling additional vocal layers in the background that really make the cut stand out. “Posted” feels intricate and yet simplistic, all at once. The instrumentation makes it easy to vibe out to, but it’s just as easy to get lost in Mickey’s vivid storytelling and succinct rhyme patterns; I find myself doing both. As much as I want to call this a “re-introduction” to Mickey Young, who released his debut single in 2015, for the vast majority of folks, this track serves as the perfect introduction. Fellow hip-hop heads, take note.
