Go Go Buffalo: I was little confused when I saw “hardcore” as a tag on a bandcamp alongside “psychedelic” and “blues”, but after streaming “Poison Control,” the latest single to be released by the Cincinnati group – I understand. On paper, this band isn’t hardcore. Yet, this is so loud and in your face I expect to see a crowd of hardcore dancers in the pit at this band’s next performance. I saw this name pop up in a number of local show Facebook events, and tonight I figured it was about time I actually checked them out. Oh – yeah, more traditional psych rock fans will find plenty to love about these guys, not just hardcore kids.

Tigers Are Bad For Horses: I met Lyell Evans Roeder, one half of indie/electronic duo Tigers Are Bad For Horses, at a SXSW showcase. When asked to describe their sound, I was told they were kind of like HONNE, who were playing said showcase, but “not as good.” Going for reverse psychology, eh Lyell? Maybe I should follow up on my statement of maybe booking you guys in Ohio for a Tuned Up show if I thought you were good! Spoiler: These guys are good. TABFH (I felt too lazy to type the fun band name) are proving to me that in this oversaturated genre that is certainly trendy, it is indeed possible to still come up with something fresh.
