I munched on candy corn while choosing these songs for you.

MUTEMATH – “Used To”: MUTEMATH is still this writer’s favorite band, and they are releasing their brightest material yet. “Used To” is methodical, fun, and has a tendency to hit the spot in a unique way. I have a feeling the band may be saving the best off of Vitals for later.

Daryl David – “W a n t Y o u”: I feel like I use the word dreamy a lot, but I’m not trying to sound like a fangirl saying “oh, he’s so dreamy!” Actually, this is the ethereal sort of REM sleep metaphorical dreamy. Settle into the groove and float away in this catchy love song penned in the UK by a songwriter that hopes to tour the US someday.

Yassou – “To Sink”: The video for this song is simply stunning. To be honest I’m not sure what to compare this to, but that’s okay. Many artists loathe being compared to others that are more popular. Yassou isn’t trying to be anything but Yassou. Awkward grammar in that last sentence on purpose! If I had to give this sound a label I would describe it as low key, minimalist cinematic pop. If you want a song to zone out to, today is your lucky day.

Dimond Saints – “Saints”: This track is notable just for the beat alone. It’s minimal yet jarring and I daresay a bit shrill at times. Listen to this song sparingly, but when you do so, crank it up! The first comment on the soundcloud page reads, “needs to be longer than 2:30.” I concur.
