As we continue our highlighting of different artists playing Columbus’ Worst Kept Secret Fest 3, we land on the self-proclaimed lo-fi surf rock band Comrade Question. The foursome is a laid back, harmony driven band that will give, at least briefly, the sonic illusion of being near a large body of water (metaphorically speaking) inside the warehouse that is the Dude Locker. To further enlighten us, one of the band’s three members sharing guitar and vocal duties, Lee Mason, filled out this ridiculous questionnaire/interview thingy. Yep, we decided to ask the same questions we asked Hundos – but as the answers will tell you, this band embodies the philosophy that musical entities at WKSF 3 will be all over the map. [bandcamp width=450 height=120 album=3637662088 size=medium bgcol=ffffff linkcol=0687f5]IATU: If Comrade Question were a beverage, what would you be?
Lee Mason (Comrade Question): A warm stale beer Lou Reed left in his basement.
IATU: What makes your live show unique?
Lee: Katie f**kin’ Baillie
IATU: What are the hotspots of Comrade Question in Columbus?
Lee: Lizzy’s house. Sometimes Keri’s.
IATU: What’s dominating your music playlist(s) as of late?
Lee: T. Rex, Iggy Pop, Jay Reatard, and Thee Oh Sees
IATU: If Comrade Question had a mission statement, what would it be?
Lee: We’re not Bon Jovi… yet.
IATU: What’s good and bad about being a musician trying to break out in today’s industry? What’s a trend we should look out for?
Lee: Sex sandwiches can be good and bad, depending on the participants and where you are placed. Keep an eye out for anything Gregorian.
IATU: Who would play your dream show? Both if you were on the lineup, or watching.
Lee: The Flaming Lips play at a house party. Then seventeen hours into their set, the Pixies pop out of a cake and play for the rest of time.
