Ryan Getz recommends: DECKER

Some reasons you should pay attention to Decker: First, this is the new solo project of Belle Histoire frontwoman Jane Smith, who graciously participated in an IATU interview on her band’s behalf a few months ago. Also, she was on The Voice this past week as a contestant, who received lots of praise from viewers and outrage at her not being picked to advance, in spite of compliments from the judges after the fact (what?). Most importantly, she exhibits an indie charm, and a strong one at that – her first single “Swing” exhibits a stark contrast of soft, pretty vocals and guitar picking with the loud pummeling of floor toms. Ray Cobra recommends: TAKE THE NAME

Take the Name just released their new EP this week. It is their first release in three years. After some line up changes they are back and stronger than ever. If you like bands like Gideon, For Today and Hundredth you will enjoy this EP by these Jesus loving guys.
