Review by Ray Cobra
I am always on the lookout for new music. A few months back I came across this label, Count Your Lucky Stars. That night I listened to a few bands on the roster and I liked them all. One band that I did not listen to that night was Brave Bird. Fast forward a few months later and I get an email asking if I wanted to review a few bands, one of which was Brave Bird. I remembered the name so I said yes. Upon listening to the very first song I was hooked and knew I wanted to hear more.
Right now there seems to be an Emo revival of sorts. This is a genre that for some reason gets a bad rep. However once you get pass the stuff you may hear it is actually full of really good bands. We can add Brave Bird to that list. Their new release, Maybe You, No One Else Worth is their first full length. Right away the band Brand New came to mind. The first track, “Too late Now”, which may be my favorite has tones of Brand New all over it. To some this may be considered a bad thing but it really isn’t. This shows that this band knows good music and right now we all could use that since we never know what Brand New is doing. In addition to having an emo feel this album also has an indie feel. The two fit together just right. Brave Bird if marketed right could go far in this business. They write songs about growing up and all that comes with that. It’s not watered down like most of the music we hear on the radio or see on MTV, when they play videos. The track “Healthy” appears to be about one’s childhood. The line, “my brother taught me how to spit, my mother didn’t want two kids, who’s the youngest? The pain we can’t forgive” is enough for anyone to feel something. And that’s what you get from these guys – feelings. This album is all over the spectrum with emotions. Brave Bird has done an excellent job of taking their feelings, putting them on paper and getting them out there for the world to hear. There isn’t one song on this album that I cannot relate to. Not only are the lyrics and vocals on point but so are the instruments, just listen to the track “Think Skin (Should I Give In)”. This is an album I will be listening to all year and probably after that.
Score: 5/5

I’m sorry but I’ve listened to this album and I really cannot agree with what you’re saying. I mean seriously this album is mediocre at best, the lyrics don’t really amount to anything and the only thing good about this album (their instrumentation) is let down by how repetitive the song structures get. Geez it’s like they ran out of ideas from their e.p and just wrote a bunch of fillers for a full length. There are way better releases from count your lucky stars, brave bird just doesn’t strike me as one of them.
