Remember when we told you about Snoop Dogg’s plans to record a reggae album with famed producer and EDM artist Diplo (also of Major Lazer – seen him live in this context, he’s a partier). Remember this article? Well, apparently Dogg is no longer Dogg, not after a spiritual rebirth in Jamaica! Now, the mogul is leaving behind rapping for good and taking up singing reggae as Snoop Lion. Odd name, no? But, assuming this isn’t some sort of weird elaborate publicity stunt or prank this has the potential to shake up the industry. How will Snoop’s millions of followers respond? Will they leave him? Will they start a reggae revival? Will it sweep the country like EDM has recently? Time will tell. In the meantime, check out the reggae album’s first single, “La La La” below:
