Tuned Up Premiere: Fields and Planes’ “Slow Down”

By Ryan G

Fields and Planes have been flying under the radar for some time. This is a shame, but the band doesn’t seem to be in a hurry to gain popularity. In the grand scheme of things though, this is a good thing. This makes the music more honest and outside the whims of an ever changing industry.

The band’s sound can be described as a sort of chamber folk meets rock sound, although they might contest this. As often as this happens in the music blogosphere these days, I find myself again admitting that the band doesn’t easily settle into a genre. By passing observation of the band’s stage set up, Fields and Planes looks like any other alternative group. But they want you to get comfortable in a cozy environment and settle into the groove of their tunes. “Slow Down,” the first single of the band’s LP “Deeper Than Before” is a good way to introduce the masses to this mindset. We have the privilege of being the first to stream this song from the Columbus, OH group below. Look for the band to do some regional touring in the next few months. More information can be found on their Facebook page or their website.
