Too Random To Ignore: Weird Grammy combos

By Ryan G

So, the Grammy awards are coming up this weekend.  Like every year, some of the biggest names in music will perform onstage.  You may have heard about the return to the stage of Adele by this point, but that makes sense given her influence over the past year.  This article, however mentions two performances that simply don’t make sense.

One performance will feature Foster the People, Maroon 5, and…the Beach Boys.

Another performance will be a tribute to dance and electronic music with David Guetta, deadmau5, Chris Brown, Lil’ Wayne, and…Foo Fighters.

The online world (and I) don’t get these.  I mean, the second performance could make a teeny bit of sense if it were a tribute to song mashup artists…but if that were the case why not get Girl Talk or Super Mash Bros?  And why would you pair up one of today’s quintessential rock artists on a DANCE music tribute? Not sure how the Foo Fighters agreed to this.  The Beach Boys thing will just be interesting.

Kudos to Bon Iver for turning down the opportunity to perform live on the condition of one of these mind-warping collaborations…
