SOPHOMORE SLUMP FEST PREVIEW: LIGHT IT UP

When one thinks of Connecticut I’m pretty sure music doesn’t come to mind. Things that may come to mind are WWE, The Whalers, Yale, UConn Women’s basketball team, and Seth MacFarlane. Every once in a while A notable musical act may emerge, let’s see we have The Carpenters, Hatebreed, The World Is a Beautiful Place & I Am No Longer Afraid to Die, Liz Phair, and A Will Away. Another band we can add to that list is Wallingford, Connecticut Alternative Rock / Pop band Light It Up.

Light It Up has been a band since September of 2016, not even a year yet and they have made tremendous waves. They released their debut EP, Wasted Years earlier this year and they have not looked back. This is a band I expect to see their name more and more in the coming months. Them and Sharptooth, another Sophomore Slump Fest band are leading the charge for women in underground music and I for one am ready for what’s to come. Lead singer Gina Fritz was kind enough to answer some questions for us.

TUNED UP: WHO ARE YOU LOOKING FORWARD TO SEEING AT SOPHOMORE SLUMP FEST?

Light It Up: We’re all very excited to see our friends in Sharptooth and I think I speak for all of us when I say we’re all excited for Broadside!
