“Beautiful. My eardrums enjoyed what I heard immensely.” – Mitch Lang, admin of Christian Rockers United fan group.

“It’s a natural progression. I liked the end best. I’m hoping this is like an “Image of the Invisible” of Vheissu and there’s more heaviness/variance and less radio friendly stuff coming from the rest of the album. Not in love yet, but it’s better so far than Major/Minor IMO.” – Gabe Reasoner of Hunter Dumped Us Here.

“New thrice is a nod to the band’s Emo and post hardcore roots without taking any steps backward. It’s a visceral and electric progression not only of thrice, but of post hardcore in general.” – Sam Baumier of Truslow

“I am a fan of, pretty near everything Dustin Kensrue has done. Really looking forward to the full record, if this is any indication, they have managed to capture everything great about what they were and add in some new sensibilities as well! I dig.” – Andrew Jones, of the Vancouver, Canada based Checkered Owl Media.

“I wanted to like this but yeah It didn’t happen. I haven’t like anything this band has done since 2003. I thought after some time away they may rediscover themselves but this was really bad. Not one redeeming quality to be found. Oh well. We all can’t be Thursday.” – Tuned Up contributor Ray Cobra.

“Feels a lot like his projects are starting to weld together a bit. Has the bones of Thrice but the feeling of DK/Modern Post. I’m a fan. Always will be.” – Mitchell Taylor of Mountains Like Wax

“Kensrue’s lyrical content and how boldly he breathes life into his world views behind a microphone is what has kept me following them since Illusion of Safety. I align with a lot of his informal outlooks throughout all their discography. Love the line in this track when Dustin sings “they’re trying to kill our minds.” No matter how they have evolved over the arc of genre, they teach us where we can choose to stand in the ascending noise culture of our day and age. In regards to the instrumentation-the tones of the guitars & Eddie’s bass resemble a lot of the tones off of Beggars & Vheissu. This seems like a very simplistic song format but theres going to be a lot of dynamic turns in this record. They even revealed some tracking of a ukulele and took advantage of a lot of other bells & whistles for this ninth record.” – Sean Parker of Out of the Pine

“Freaking yes! Definitely has an image of the invisible feel but his voice just keeps getting better.. I am so ready for this album!” – Joe Leppanen of Compass

“This song is everything a Thrice fan could ever hope to get after a long wait. From the lyrical brilliance full of relevance and unapologetic unrest, to the raw, fresh sound charged with emotion, anger and hope, this track raises the bar to a new level.
It’s unavoidable not to feel Dustin’s desperation and call to action.
Musically it’s reminiscent of their bass-driven “Fire” stuff, but dynamically different to the point I can say this song is very different to anything they have put out to date.
They’ve done it again.

#TBEITBN” – Marco Castro, Tuned Up hypeman and member of The Castros

“When Thrice went on hiatus in the summer of 2012, they didn’t close their eyes and shut their ears.

In every sense of the word, “Blood in the Sand” is a call to arms, as performed by the Orange County quartet in their full glory. Not just kind that doesn’t asks for your attention, but the kind that demands it.

It shouldn’t be surprising that a new Thrice song bears no resemblance to the sound that cultivated audiences during the band’s heyday of playing Taste of Chaos or Warped Tour. And with that said, it would be ridiculous to picture a buttrock-heavy radio festival in 2016 where Thrice doesn’t win over the majority of the attendance thanks to this comeback track.” – Adrian Garza, music journalist
