Columbus Covers Columbus – Meet the People: Ever Burning Bright

By Ryan G

Ever Burning Bright is one of those bands that has made a name for themselves in a short amount of time. Since their formation in 2014 they have become one of the better known and successful rock bands in the area. They have shared the stage with the likes of Icon for Hire, Wolves at the Gate, Family Force Five, House of Heroes, and many others. They also have had a single chart on Billboard. Next month they will be releasing a new album, so be on the lookout for that.

TUNED UP: Why did you choose to participate in this event?

Ever Burning Bright: So many reasons! First off, you know it’s going to be a good time with a line-up featuring nearly thirty awesome locals. You get a little bit of everything, and have the chance to support the local scene at the same time. Secondly, it’s an honor to be a part of the something new and exciting that Columbus hasn’t seen before. It’s great to see everyone come together and support one another, from local charities to bands to Borgata and everything in between. There’s something for everyone!

TUNED UP: Are there any covers you are hoping to hear?

Ever Burning Bright: Obviously we’re super pumped to hear Ex-Nihilo covering one of our tunes. We also love to see all the House of Heroes songs people are breaking out. Those guys played a big part in influencing our songwriting and musicianship.

TUNED UP: We all know the PromoWest venues, Ace of Cups and Rumba, but what are some lesser known venues that you enjoy?

Ever Burning Bright: We love The Shrunken Head, that place has really stepped it up in their overall production quality. One of our all-time favorite venues was Park St Saloon though (RIP in Peace…), that place was rad and had a nice sized stage, so we could try out all sorts of new (And usually dangerous) stage stunts…

TUNED UP: Who are some local acts that our readers should be listening to?

Ever Burning Bright: Oh man, Columbus has so many talented bands. Some of our favorites are Doc Robinson, Jared Mahone, The Forty, Threat Level Midnight, Safety Squad, The Big Badd, Landon Rowe, BareFuzz, The Cartographers, Get in The Ark and Ill Poetic.

TUNED UP: What act(s) are you most excited to see at this festival?

Ever Burning Bright: We’ll definitely be catching Mistar Anderson, Ex-Nihilo, The Castros and Zoo Trippin’s set on Friday night! Coya Hill and The Turbos are two bands that really know how to throw down on Saturday’s lineup as well.

TUNED UP: If you could induct an Ohio Musician into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, who would it be?

Ever Burning Bright: Jerry Depizzo from O.A.R. That guy is a legend.

TUNED UP: Do you think Tony Casa will remove his shirt during Zoo Trippin’s set?

Ever Burning Bright: Tony owns a shirt?

TUNED UP: What is your favorite winter beverage?

Ever burning Bright: Very few drinks can compete with hot apple cider and bourbon. A drink that warms the soul. You can never go wrong with hot chocolate as well!

TUNED UP: What is your favorite winter activity?

Ever Burning Bright: Game nights with friends, attempting to not suck at snowboarding and having full body bruises for three weeks afterwards because of it or just hibernating until the spring.

TUNED UP: Do you want to build a snowman?

Ever Burning Bright: Only if it comes to life, can keep itself from melting, and shred on guitar so we can finally replace Aaron.  (Edit: I actually think that would be pretty dope. There would be no hard feelings, I just can’t compete with an animated snowman with the power to rock – Aaron)
