Spencer Saylor: “24-7”

This rising singer songwriter in Columbus has gained lots of traction with the rapidly growing Columbus Songwriters’ Association. “24-7” is the soon to be newest single release from the aspiring singer, who opts for a R&B influenced pop route. That much is clear, just from the production. A slight Andrew Belle influence can be heard, from the slightly dark, brooding quality of the beats. The vocals are on point and catchy, which make up for the slightly cliche sounding lyrics. With 18,000 views accrued in a mere 3 days of a preview being posted on YouTube, Saylor seems on his way to being another YouTube star if the single gets posted again following its formal release November 15th. The song also features Chris Jamison and was produced by Jay Olson and engineered by Kody Orris at StationWest Studios in Nashville.

Sleep Fleet – “I Wanted It All”

The lead single from rockers Sleep Fleet’s forthcoming record Hudson and High is too brief, but in a paradoxically satisfying way. Corey Montgomery’s raw vocals carry enough Grohl-esque grit to give this song a classic, yet fresh vibe. Look for this to be a hit in the rock club scene…if not arenas. “I Wanted It All” simultaneously reeks of DIY and polish, and I can’t wait to hear the rest of the album, which undoubtedly will supersede Morris Drive in quality.

Danger Scene – “Go”

This band is fresh out of Nashville, and this is their first single – an electro pop single reminiscent of LIGHTS in between her The Listening  and Siberia eras. The synth in the bridge of the song is the highlight of the tune, and the slightly unconventional sounding melody in the chorus makes the song more memorable than a passive listen might lead someone to believe. The male vocals at the end seem a bit out of place, but could be a clever placement that acts as the love interest of the primary singer, expressing his agreement of not wanting her to leave.
