In the mailbox: Cornerstone Father, Eugene Francis Jnr
by Ryan G on Oct 27, 2012 • 3:10 pm No CommentsCornerstone Father, the moniker Tyler Malm chose for himself, sent I AM TUNED UP a link to his bandcamp with the simple message “I am a poet.” It’s clear that Malm derives a lot of inspiration from the more widely known Levi the Poet, who is now out on tour with metalcore mainstays For Today and Sleeping Giant on the Unshakeable Tour. Malm is quite clearly in awe of the salvation experience in both short tracks showcased in his most recent What Once Was a Child EP. The first track, “The First Breath After Salvation” has a washed out feel reminiscent of one that is just waking up to a new reality. Cool stuff.
Also in our inbox this week is the forthcoming single from the UK’s Eugene Francis Jnr, an electronic indie pop artist. You can stream that single, titled “Calliope Fuxwar” below:
An interesting, glitchy, almost dubstep influenced sound can be heard throughout the track, contrasted with smooth pop vocals. This track definitely has the potential to be polarizing, but I find it enjoyable. His full length, Death and Das Love Bytes will be out in March.
