Linkin Park – “Lost in the Echo”: The follow up to smash single “Burn It Down” from Living Things has been released and is starting to impact alternative rock radio. This is everything we love about classic Linkin Park with a tad of freshness thrown in. Positivity reigns here, and I would venture that this is a much better track than “Burn It Down” though to a crowd it might not be as immediately catchy.
Matt and Toby – “What Plays in My Head”: What a pleasant surprise to hear something so soaring and epic from the “mellower” side of Emery, the new Matt and Toby project. I was expecting a folksy singer/songwriter tune, not a solid indie rock tune with Emery influences! All the more impressive when you consider that the pair recorded the whole thing themselves. The song builds in a way that simply is enough to make you love it the first time to hear it. OK, gonna stop rambling now and let you listen. I give a lot of praise on this site but this instance in particular is NOT given lightly. Watch the music video here.
Liam Shachar featuring Liz Harlow: “Still Here”: This single comes to us from a guy who recently made the Next Big Sound chart. Liam graciously informed us of his new release “Still Here.” Liz Harlow provides haunting vocals amidst some beats that when welded together, give a Purity Ring meets Andy Hunter vibe. That is, the sound is simultaneously eerie, ethereal, and club ready. Given the deluge of EDM artists out there its hard to say how far Shachar will get but it’s safe to say he’s good at his craft.
