In the mailbox: bassDrumsnareDrum, Wet Nuns, Capital Cities

By Ryan G

Submitted to I AM TUNED UP recently is this captivating new track (music video below) from the UK’s bassDrumsnareDrum, an electronic/chillout artist. “All We Need” navigates the dichotomy between relaxation and tension well, giving it enough versatility for use in the gym or as background study music. This producer deserves to be thought of as more than background music however. A well-placed faux-ending in “All We Need” might have some people skipping to the next track on their playlist if they’re not paying attention – but this effect is used well. Simply beautiful guest vocals carry the track and keep things interesting.

Wet Nuns, another artist from the UK have recently released a new single, “Why You So Cold?” The bluesy rock track spends almost a full minute warming up with a whining, meandering guitar solo posing the same protesting question to a simple “answer” of a complementing riff. In an “I can’t take it anymore” effect the track picks up with aggressive vocals and driving drums that go on for just over 2 and a half minutes before the song comes to a halt. Stream it below:

Finally, we have a fun submission from California’s Capital Cities. This time, it is a cover of Sinead O’Connor’s “Nothing Compares 2 U.” It is a fun cover of an otherwise emotional power ballad. Leave it to these guys to make a semi-cheesy power ballad over 20 years old club ready. Listen below:
