In the mailbox: The Sleepers Wake, Regardless of Consequenceby Ryan G on Jul 14, 2012 • 7:53 pm No Comments
“In the mailbox” is actually somewhat of a misnomer here. Both bands contacted me through means other than email, but here are two recent submissions:
The Sleepers Wake is based in Wheaton, IL and plays a mixture of soft rock and singer/songwriter folk. Their song “Sailing” has been entered in a nationwide songwriting contest, and it’s solid little track. Call it the little track that could. Anyway, head honcho Daniel Jones has established a time period of 10 years of go big or go home mentality – that is, if his project doesn’t succeed within 10 years he will pursue a different career. So I’ll say it here – they aren’t there yet, but step up people and make these guys a band to watch! Check out the band’s bandcamp page as well as their Facebook page!
Regardless of Consequence of Newark, OH is the other submission, and they sound like a hybrid of Linkin Park and Impending Doom. The band is young but they have high aspirations. The vocals could be stronger, but the lyrics are unabashedly faith-rooted. Instrumentally, the band has what it takes – they just need to sing in a less straining way. Take a listen and see what you think on their official Facebook page.
