The $1 million kickstarter

by Ryan G on May 29, 2012 • 8:44 pm No Comments

A few weeks ago there was an article at the top of the page featuring Amanda Palmer. She has now raised just about quintuple the record-breaking $207,000 Five Iron Frenzy raised upon their reunion.

1 million dollars raised on Kickstarter.  Well.  It proves down and out what the trend in music is – that with creative enough incentives and the right combination of good musicianship and charisma DIY records are definitely possible.  Incentive based marketing will slowly become the norm, I predict, with record labels becoming not much more than souped-up distribution and publicity entities.

Not all people agree that this trend is commendable.  What do you think?

Like it or not – this is where the industry is headed.
