Lollapalooza: leaked line-up and commentary

by Ryan G on Apr 9, 2012 • 10:06 am No Comments

Apparently, if absolutepunk.net is to be believed, the 2012 Lollapalooza line-up has been leaked.  The full list can be viewed here: http://www.tenhomaisdiscosqueamigos.com/2012/04/09/veja-o-line-up-do-lollapalooza-chicago-2012/

Alleged headliners are Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Black Keys, and Black Sabbath.  Sigur Ros and At the Drive In will also be making appearances.  Hence, my earlier posts about this year being the year of the reunions are being corroborated.  Headlining Lollapalooza (along with a bevy of other summer festivals) is cementing The Black Keys as an industry defining band – it’s amazing to see how far they’ve come in just the past couple years.  Now, if Patrick Carney would just learn to keep his “commentary” on the industry in check, that would really be something (just kidding…sort of).  My prediction is that Sigur Ros and At the Drive In will shine, but that Black Sabbath is a bit past their time.  I’ll take Foo Fighters or Muse over them any day.

Bands that exploded onto the scene a few years ago are back and ready to prove they’re more than one-trick ponies.  Passion Pit, Miike Snow, and The Temper Trap all appear to be doing just that at this festival (Yes America, they have talent beyond “Sleepyhead,” “Sweet Disposition,” et. al.).  It’s also good to see SBTRKT on the list (featured on a “looking to 2012″ post) – he is clearly moving on up.  No Skrillex or Deadmau5 overshadowing him this year!
